United Way Cuts Funding for Hospice
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
Our United Way support has ended!
Due to the new focus of the United Way of America, both Capital Area United Way and Eaton County United Way have decided that they will no longer approve grant requests for our Hospice services. We will continue to receive any and all dollars specifically designated to Eaton Community Hospice from our United Way supporters.
The current focus of United Way funding is:
Education
– helping children and youth achieve their potential through education by: Improving access to quality early learning opportunities, providing programs for at-risk youth, and programs that prepare children and youth to become responsible adults who are emotionally, cognitively and physically prepared to succeed in school, work and their community.
Income – helping families and individuals become financially stable and independent by: Supporting basic needs while increasing financial education, providing programs that help families find affordable housing, enhancing individuals’ financial stability through education and vocational skills to improve their employability and create opportunities for self-sufficiency.
Health – Improving people’s health by: providing programs that reduce substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence and increasing health education and preventive care access.
We realize these are very important areas of need. Likewise, providing
end-of-life care, at no charge, to those who are dying is also vitally important. Spending one’s last days in an environment that is peaceful and serene is a special gift that we are able to provide -- thanks to the support of many of you throughout the past 27 years.
We are 100% supported by our community, through your donations and memorial gifts. We receive no State or Federal funds. Our funding comes totally from people like you -- people who kindheartedly give so that we can continue to provide that “special kind of care” for those who are facing their
end-of-life.
Thank you for your continued support.
